Booking the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Spacious, ocean-view condo w\/ a shared pool, sundeck, & grilling area has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
