How to find the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and picking your prefect Hilton Head rental:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Sea Pines Home w\/ Private Pool, Family-Friendly Spaces - Near Beach & Golf has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Have a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
