Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.

How to select the best rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Private Beach Access! 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Villa at The Spa on The Port Royal Sound has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If not, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
