How to find the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Hilton Head Vacation Rental on the practice green and driving range! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
