Finding the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Hilton Head vacation home:
- To start, have your family choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Panoramic views of the inter-coastal waterway Broad Creek! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
