Tips to get the very best Hilton Head rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • To book the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Selecting and booking the best Hilton Head rental home:

  • To start, have your group decide on a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 49 Off Shore, Near Ocean, Pool & Hot Tub, Dog Friendly, Free Golf has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
