Tricks and tips for getting the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best rental:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Inviting family-friendly condo with balcony, central AC, & outdoor pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
