Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:
When to book a Hilton Head rental & When to go:
- Book your Hilton Head rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the perfect rental home in the Hilton Head area:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Inviting family-friendly condo with balcony, central AC, & outdoor pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
