Tips to get the very best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the rightrental:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Turtles & Tails - PET FRIENDLY! Weekly Rates from January to February 8th, 2025! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If not, email the host before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
