Finding the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Modern condo with private patio - close to golf, shops & dining has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Have a great stay:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
