How to book the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the right Hilton Head rental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Villa with Ocean Views, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub, and Nearby Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
