Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the perfect vacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Nautical Dream at HHR 4323 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
