Our top Vacation rental tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.
How to choose and book your prefectrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Sunset Rentals
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
