Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- To get the best rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and choose yourrental:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Lovely Light and Bright Queens Grant Villa! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
