Finding the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Stunningly remodeled 3rd floor villa with ocean views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is right for your trip.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
