Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Book your Hilton Head rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the perfect rental home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Chic beach condo with direct beach access, on-site pool, & private balcony has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
