When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses.   • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
