How to find the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect rental home:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Luxurious Oceanfront House w\/Free WiFi, Private Gas Grill & Heated Outdoor Pool has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
