Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the best vacation rental:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Amazing Family-Friendly House w/ Private Pool & Hot Tub, WiFi & AC - Near Beach has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
