Strategies for getting the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, shift your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. A Traveler's Dream! Recently Updated HHBT 1st Floor Condo has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. text the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
