Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Expansive Private Oceanfront Home with Vaulted Ceilings and Private Pool! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
