Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting and booking a perfect Hilton Head rental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 3 Bedroom/3.5 Bathroom Two-story Villa Near the Ocean with Screened in Porch! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you crave, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Advice for a great stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
