Tricks and tips for getting the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best rental home in Hilton Head:
- Select dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Fun island retreat with pool, hot tub, beach access & balcony has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
