Tricks and tips to get the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Fun island retreat with pool, hot tub, beach access & balcony has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
