Tips to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the perfect Hilton Head rental home:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Updated beach gem with ocean views, pool, hot tub, & tennis - snowbird-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
