Finding the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking yourrental:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Stunning Oceanfront Hideaway with Private Pool, Deck, and Yard - Dogs Welcome has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
