Strategies to get the very best Hilton Head rental home experience:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best rental in Hilton Head:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Spacious Home - Private Pool & Big Deck with Gas Grill, Free WiFi has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
