Tricks and tips to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Book your Hilton Head rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • First and foremost, have your family select date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Spacious Home - Private Pool & Big Deck with Gas Grill, Free WiFi has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
