Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental home in Hilton Head:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Large Two Bedroom Villa with Four Queen Beds on the Lagoon! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you crave, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
