Rental booking tips:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Lovely condo close to beach - pool access, elegant screened patio & washer/dryer has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
