How to book the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right Hilton Head vacation home:

  • First, have your group select dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Lovely condo close to beach - pool access, elegant screened patio & washer\/dryer has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
