Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To find the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best vacation home:
- Start by having your group agree to vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sunset Rentals
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you crave, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
