Our top Hilton Head vacation rental tips:

When to visit Hilton Head & When to book:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Filter your search:

  • First, have your family select trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Two-story villa with 3 pools, tennis & bikes - walk to Coligny Plaza & beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
