Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautiful Colonial-style Home with Lagoon Views and Newly-Constructed Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
