Tips and Tricks for getting the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Egret 2
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
