Hilton Head rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:
- First, have your family decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Private pool - space for the whole family 4 bedrooms! 7 Port Au Prince has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
