Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the rightvacation home:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Private pool - space for the whole family 4 bedrooms! 7 Port Au Prince has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If not, email the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you crave, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
