Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To book the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the perfect rental home:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Private pool - space for the whole family 4 bedrooms! 7 Port Au Prince has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
