Hilton Head vacation rental booking tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the best rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 497 Captains Cove is a lovely property located close to the beach on HHI. has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
