Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- To start, have your family select vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Spacious Townhome on Golf Course with Balcony, Al Fresco Dining, and Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
