Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Townhouse Ideally Located Close to Beach w\/Shared Pool, Free WiFi, AC, W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you crave, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
