Finding the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the perfect vacation home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. MINUTES TO THE BEACH! Wonderful Sea Pines Home! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. message the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
