Our top Rental booking tips:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Spacious Condo w\/Free WiFi, Private Balcony, Washer\/Dryer, Shared Pool & Hot Tub has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
