Tips and Tricks to get the very best Hilton Head rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Queen’s Grant condo with deck, pools, grill, tennis, golf, & 11-mile lagoon has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
