Booking the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful 3,104 square foot Palmetto Dunes getaway - private pool & dock has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
