Strategies to get the very best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
How to choose the perfect rental in the Hilton Head area:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Private Home with Enclosed Pool Very Close to the Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Tips for a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
