Hilton Head rental home booking tips:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and choose a perfect Hilton Head rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group select the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautiful Three Bedroom Villa with Many Updates! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
