Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the best rental home in Hilton Head:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Dog-friendly island gem w\/ private pool, golf course views & central AC has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
