Our top Hilton Head rental home tips:
When to go & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- First, have your family choose vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 3rd row home located in the heart of Sea Pines - close to South Beach Marina! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
