Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect rental home:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 19 Heath Drive Stunning Hilton Head Island Vacation Rental! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
