Tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right Hilton Head vacation home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful & spacious home near the beach with private pool\/pool spa, fast WiFi has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
