Getting the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to pick the best rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Comfortable villa with pool, hot tub, lagoon view & nearby beach access has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you simply love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
