Tricks and tips to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To book the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the perfect rental in Hilton Head:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. George Fazio Golf Course Views with Updated Bathrooms! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, call the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
