Booking the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best rental in the Hilton Head area:
- To start, have your group select the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. 2 bed/3 bath villa, spacious and updated townhouse with view of the pool has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Tips for a great stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
