Our top Rental home tips:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your Hilton Head rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 2 bed/3 bath villa, spacious and updated townhouse with view of the pool has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
