Tips and Tricks for getting the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Private Pet Friendly Folly Field Home with 3 Bedrooms has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
