Booking the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Private Pet Friendly Folly Field Home! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
