Getting the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Beach Getaway with WiFi, Pools, Hot Tub, & Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
