Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beach Getaway with WiFi, Pools, Hot Tub, & Ocean View has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
