Getting the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental & When to go:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beach Getaway with WiFi, Pools, Hot Tub, & Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
